"Be Your Own Hero" – Event by WoWoman Lahore

After a successful launch in Pakistan, the international woman empowerment platform WoWoman, Lahore chapter is holding its second event. “Be Your Own Hero” will be held on the 8th of April’17, a Female ONLY event, which will focus on exploring your deepest regrets and sorrows and on learning how to forgive yourself and embrace yourself as your own savior. 

“At many points in our life we lose touch with our-selves and that is when things start going downhill. Loving yourself alone is not enough, you need to believe in the power of YOU “ mentioned Wasma Imran, the special guest and speaker of the event.

bWasma Imran is an inspirational woman who has is currently working as a Global Perspectives teacher at Lahore Grammar School, in Lahore, Pakistan and Vice Chairperson Lahore for All Ladies League (ALL). From a very young age, Wasma has been involved with several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) including Bargad – Organization for Youth Development, AIESEC and the Government of Punjab. She has been working on exploring solutions on youth issues in Pakistan, developing content for capacity building trainings and workshops for youth and advocating for women and minority rights. Wasma has represented Pakistan in USA as a US State Department exchange participant on Comparative Public Policy, in China as a youth delegate sent by the Youth Affairs Department of Punjab to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, and in Qatar as an ambassador from Pakistan to discuss Sports Policy for developing countries. In addition, Wasma has worked on Challenging Extremism in Pakistan, and secured second position in South Asia and Near East for a US Department of State funded global competition on promoting tolerance. She is also a part of the Punjab Youth Commission – a body appointed by the Chief Minister of Punjab to advance interests of the youth in the province of Punjab. 

For those who don’t know, WoWoman is a women’s empowerment platform which creates space and tools for women to develop themselves personally and professionally. WoWoman stands for helping women to dare to follow their dreams, live up to their full potential and most importantly, enjoy the Journey itself. Initially opened in Azerbaijan, in just 2 years, team grew from a single enthusiast, to a group of 50+ dedicated women around the globe. These women have organised and managed globally more than 100 events, training, seminars, and master classes that empower women through a variety of disciplines such as entrepreneurship, information technology, cinematography, human resources, project management, yoga, and much more. WoWoman receives up to 800 applications for each event every week. At present, more than 6,500 women have enriched their lives through WoWoman programs & events. Its 2nd year anniversary, WoWoman International celebrated on February 19 at the Fairmont Hotel, Azerbaijan where media representatives, famous guests, trainers, representatives of embassies and ministries, government agencies and private sector supporters were present. In Pakistan WoWoman hold their first event on 11th of March 2017.

It’s so encouraging knowing that the wrok you do, and we do it voluntarily, brings so many pleasant emotions to the people and seeing even a small change in them, makes us want to work even harder for the impact WoWoman aims to bring in Pakistan and not only,” said Navera Burki (LUMS student) and WoWoman Lahore team member, Marketing Responsible.
